Things to do in Eton
Located in Berkshire on the opposite bank of the River Thames to Windsor, Eton is mostly known for its famous all boys school. Whilst this is a great claim to fame, the quaint and affluent town has so much more to offer visitors and locals than people often realise.
Eton has plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs to keep visitors entertained during their stay. One of the things that people like the most about Eton is that it's not full of the usual High Street chains and restaurants. Founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, Eton College is one of the oldest schools in the country and therefore attracts a lot of interest from the general public. Short guided tours can be enjoyed as this gives visitors a chance to learn the history of the school and to admire the fascinating architecture that it displays. It is important to check opening times before going however because as it is a working school community, opening times can vary.
Eton sits on Windsor's doorstep and either town can be easily reached by taking a quick stroll across Windsor Bridge.
