Windsor is very easy to get to from London (a distance of 22 miles / 35 km) and the surrounding area. It is fortunate enough to have two railway stations (both centrally located), to be located just off Junction 6 of the M4 motorway, and to be within 15 minutes drive of Heathrow Airport.
You can take a leisurely cycle ride to Windsor from central London Paddington courtesy of Cycle UK – see their webpage here.
There is no need to drive within the town itself: everything of interest can be reached by foot, and indeed it would be unwise to try to drive around the town centre. For information on guided tour by bus, see the Windsor Town Centre page.
Windsor town centre operates a Shopmobility scheme. This is a loan of wheelchairs and scooters for anyone who has difficulty in walking. The scheme operates from a satellite centre and is by appointment. All contact should be made through the main Centre at Maidenhead. It is worth noting that the area immediately around the Castle does have some quite steep hills. Please note that there is a charge for this service. For information, see the Royal Borough website here.
